Project Description

Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company appointed PUNCH Consulting Engineers to design and supervise a programme of maintenance and capital dredging during 2003.  Approximately 100,000m3 of sediment was removed from the main fairway in the harbour.  The project required a wide range of investigations, surveys and licences including:-

  • Bathymetric Surveys
  • Secliment Analysis
  • Underwater Archaeological Surveys
  • Foreshore Licence
  • Dumping at Sea Permit

The harbour, as well as serving the Stena Ferry to Holyhead, also contains a 500 berth marina, four yacht clubs, two sailing clubs and the Irish Lights Headquarters and workshops.  All of these parties were affected by the proposed works and an extensive liaison exercise was required to allow the works to be carried out safely.
