Project Description

PUNCH Consulting Engineers were commissioned by Meath County Council to undertake the planning and design of a scheme approximately 4km in length.  Works include an 85m long bridge over the River Boyne in Navan.  PUNCH Consulting Engineers have progressed all phases of the project from a line on the Development Plan, through environmental, planning, land acquisition and tender. Construction for 2 of 3 contracts has been completed. The project also involved construction of a new signalised junction on the N3.  Works included a deep cut excavation, construction of an 1800mm diameter surface water drain to facilitate developments in the area, and raising the level of the existing N3 carriageway to tie in with the river bridge.

The 3rd Stage is at CPO stage.  This section also includes construction two roundabout junctions and an overbridge carrying the proposed reopened Clonsilla-Navan railway line.

This project required submission to OPW in order to secure Section 50 approval under the Arterial Drainage Act. The project involves a major new signalised junction with the existing N3 route.
