Assessments

  • BREEAM Assessments - The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) was established in 1990. It allows the owners, users and designers of buildings to review and improve environmental performance throughout the life of a building. It sets a benchmark for environmental performance and allows clients and occupiers to assess and compare the environmental performance of the building they use.  TPE Consulting Engineers are accredited BREEAM Assessors and in a competitive business market an excellent BREAAM rating can give one development an edge over another.
  • Alternate Energy Assessments as directed under the EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, European Legislation)
  • Building Energy Rating (BER) Certification
  • ‘PassivHaus’ standards – a specific construction standard for buildings which have excellent comfort conditions in both winter and summer with a requirement for the use of passive heating and cooling solutions.  The requirement to meet the high PassivHaus standards have been proposed to become binding under European Law by 2011
  • Energy Assessments and Predicted Energy Usage Calculations
  • Comfort Assessments using Computer Modelling Techniques
  • Building Fabric Performance Optimisation
  • Review building orientation with architect and client to optimise the use of solar energy
  • Review building shape and façade to optimise heat loss and gain
